- Separated since May 2004, Divorced summer 2008 (I hope). Joint custody of my 3 boys, half time with me, half with their mom. Divorce Coach, host of the meetup group "Ottawa Separated Parents Support Group". Webmaster of www.everyman.org.

“ One member had been to six meetups. Two members has attended two, and three were attending their first meetup (including me). In total there were 2 men, and 4 women. Age range seemed to be 30 to 45. The focus seemed to be on developing friendships and getting out for a nice meal. ”

“ Wide diversity of situations reported. A few attendees were in early stages of negotiating their separation agreements and were encountering traditional obstacles to resolution on both financial and custody/access matters. Status Quo is paramount for custody and access, and delays on getting a signed separation agreement can have major impact on final custody/access arrangements if a new situation is implicitly being established while negotiations drag on. If you reach an impasse, and defacto interim custody arrangements are not acceptable, you probably need to get to court sooner rather than later. A few attendees were considering revising existing arrangements. People were quite open sharing the issues they were dealing with and sharing suggestions, ideas, and concerns. Lots of useful feedback from the group. ”

By preference I assume you mean location? If so any where in Ottawa would be fine. Am a bit nervous about talking with people I don't really know but at the same time am looking forward to sharing and getting support.
